BACKGROUND
Sussex Training is a registered charity. The company was formed in 1983, under the umbrella of the Chichester College Vocational Preparation Department, to run the Governments YTS programme in the Chichester area. In 1988, the company became an independent training provider and has grown to be one of the most successful in West Sussex, including being finalists in the Sussex Business of the Year "Winning Through People" award.
Sussex Training has highly qualified staff, with a wealth of experience in providing training, support and monitoring to learners and their employers. With branches in Chichester, Worthing and Littlehampton, we endeavour to provide local training to our clients throughout the county by continually adding to our resources and updating our equipment. Our continued success as a private training provider relies on the systems and procedures we have in place. These are continually monitored and updated, to ensure the best possible service is provided.
Since 1994 Sussex Training has been accredited as an Investor in People, a national standard for improving an organisation's performance through its people. We understand the importance of staff motivation, personal development and the recognition of achievement for both our own employees and our clients.
Sussex Training has an extensive database of employers all of whom are approved to provide work experience/training as part of our integrated training programmes. |

HEALTH AND SAFETY
Sussex Training employs a full time Health and Safety Officer (NEBOSH Certificated), responsible for ensuring that all learners are working in safe environments and that employers have systems in place to effectively support the learner in their chosen career. The assessment is carried out in an advisory capacity, to check that employers follow requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974).
All learners attend a brief Health and Safety Induction at one of our Training Centres. Further development of Health and Safety awareness and understanding is achieved by completing a Be-Safe booklet and questionnaire. The Health and Safety Officer reviews these, produces an answer/information sheet and then arranges a visit with the learner to discuss their results.
